Harriet the Giant Galapagos Land Tortoise was a national treasure and beloved member of the Australia Zoo family.  She was collected from the Galapagos Islands in 1835 by Sir Charles Darwin when she was about 5 years old.  She spent the rest of her life in Australia, where people came from all over the world to pay tribute to the oldest living animal on earth.  Harriet died on June 23, 2006.
